Parish of St Michael Barbados

St Michael

Bridgetown the capital is situated in this parish on the south west of the island.  In Bridgetown you will find many of the larger shops, ideal for duty free shopping, also the harbour.

Just outside of the town heading to Spring Garden Highway is Kensington Oval (cricket ground),  near to here is Mount Gay Rum Factory (www.mountgay.com) the oldest rum refinery in the world.  A tour of this refinery is a must even just for the "belly up to the bar" shout of the barman at the end of your tour.

Another tour is the Banks Beer (www.banksbeer.com), situated in Wildey, No I am not an alcholic, here you get the chance to see how this world famous beer is brewed.  Near to the brewery is the Bussa Statue, believed to be the slave who led a failed rebellion where over 250 slaves were executed.

There are a number of very good beaches in St Michael, Carlisle Bay, Brandons and Brighton beach being just a few.
