Parish of St James Barbados
St James - The Gold Coast Is situated on the West Coast with Holetown the main town and third largest on the island, Holetown is also the place of the first settlement in 1627. As it is on the Caribbean Sea it is very popular with luxury hotels, villas and condominiums and has a number of beaches including what is now known as Sandy Lane Beach, this is because the world famous Sandy Lane Hotel is situated on it. Many of the most famous people in the world own property on this coastline Oprah Windfrey being one of them. Places of interest are St James Parish Church, Portvale Sugar Museum and Folkstone Marine Park (good place to practice snorkelling).

Please be aware that ALL beaches in Barbados are for public use and must allow public access at all times, this means that if you want to mix with the rich and famous, you can go and sit on Sandy Lane Beach (Just make sure you dont use any of the hotel loungers) anywhere you wish and no-one can remove you.  |
