Activities in Barbados

The activities below are just some of the many that are available in Barbados.

Some people might look at Polo as being a "rich mans" activity, but I can tell you that in Barbados it is a good afternoon's entertainment. Admission is not expensive, and as well as watching the Polo. the social side is very good indeed.

Of course Cricket can be seen almost anywhere on the island all year round with the top games being at the world famous Kensington Oval.

Horse Racing is held at the Garrison Savannah.

All of the usual water activities are available, mostly on the West and South coast.  Surfing, Wind Surfing and Kite Surfing take place on the East and South East, Long Beach being one of the better beaches, especially for wind and kite surfing.

Beach Cricket can be seen on most beaches. If you see a group of local boys playing and want to join in, dont be afraid to ask. Most will invite you to have a game.

Road Tennis is indigenous to Barbados. It is basically what it says, tennis played on the roads.  It started in the 1930s and now has its own Association.  Well worth watching but not as easy to play as lawn tennis, there is more bending.
